Building community, sharing experiences, fostering friendships.
Intersections is a social community and resource network for the adolescent/young adult (AYA) oncology patient population at UCSF. This program is facilitated by UCSF medical students and is organized in conjunction with the pediatric and adult oncology communities, including physicians, nurses, and social workers. We aim to provide an environment in which patients can form friendships and share their experiences, frustrations, and successes with each other.
Rather than functioning as a traditional support group, Intersections provides opportunities for patients in different stages of treatment to interact with each other and with medical student volunteers in a fun, non-clinical, and supportive environment.
